β€œI just had the worst experience with J&J Septic and their project manager Anthony. When I called, the person on the phone was kind and gave me a quote of $288 for a septic system inspection. The person on the phone said we would only have to pay a dig fee if major digging and locating was required. When the technician came out he was directed to where the tank lid was by the homeowner. Our $288 quote quickly became $517 because he had to uncover the tank lid (maybe 4 shovels of dirt). I told him it was unfair not to tell me about those charges up front but he refused to do it for the agreed upon price. I repeatedly brought up the quoted price to which Anthony basically said that was wrong and made every excuse possible to charge us more. Very dishonest and off putting. Took maybe 25 minutes for the entire digging and inspection process which to me clearly indicates no major digging occurred. He also admitted to only uncovering one tank lid instead of both. When we requested to be called by the main office to discuss these charges we were repeatedly lied to about when they would call. Anthony finally called 5 days after the services were performed and the initial request for a phone call was made and got an attitude with us. We requested that his manager call and he got huffy. This company will definitely never get my business or anyone I know again. They scam you out of as much money as possible and try everything they can to avoid making things right. If I could give the company 0 stars I definitely would.”

β€œJ&J Septic and Estimate Services: We collected three estimates for this project. The company, which goes by Hero when you call them, was the only company that charged us. We paid $99 for the service they provided giving us an estimate (14 mins on site). Before scheduling this service, I asked the office what they charged for pumping a septic. The price I was higher than other companies but within reason. So we schedule the service for them to come out, but when the rep arrived he stated the job would cost over $2,000 more. I told him that his price was more than double the other estimates. He then "found" a way to save $500. But they were still far too overpriced for the additional work. We did not subscribe for the additional service. I imaging Hero subsidizes their business model with a regular infusion $99 fees, which lessons their need to be competitive in pricing for further service. If a septic company's business model operates based on estimates and septic service, they should adjust their name accordingly. UPDATE: When we actually brought a rep out, they discovered that the tank wasn't deep at all. The company we went with was able to hand dig. Final cost $850.”

β€œThere are definitely other companies in the area that will perform a service at a lower price, but in my experience with some of the others I used before J & J, the old adage 'you get what you pay for' rings true. Everyone I came in contact with at J & J was incredibly courteous and professional. First and foremost, Tyler was the technician that helped me today, and most definitely went above and beyond what my expectations were. From my initial phone call to the time their truck pulled into my driveway was under an hour. I didn't encounter and hidden additional fees or any extra charges I wasn't made aware of when I called. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because pricing was high compared to other companies in the area.”

β€œMy wife already posted a review but I'm leaving my impression. She called me at work to ask if we should authorize J&J to charge us $499 to use 'special equipment' to unearth the opening to the septic tank for pumping and inspection. Taking this statement at face value, I agreed to it. Turns out the 'special equipment' was a shovel and digging bar and the work took no more than 30 minutes; a shovel and digging bar are quite standard, nothing special about them. I think I could have done it in 10 with my mattock. The invoice was for $1072, the other items reasonably priced. This charge, however, was exorbitantly priced. For $499 I could have hired a four man team of laborers for the entire day. J&J took advantage of the fact that we are remote, living in Arizona with no means to audit the work done. In my opinion they made deceptive statements about the scope of the work necessary. After being confronted about it they exaggerated the work performed. Their lack of integrity is borderline fraudulent and I feel conned by the transaction. $49 to find the lid (we knew where the tank was) $175 for inspection $349 to pump $499 to dig (with 'special equipment')”

β€œI just had the worst experience with J &J. The phone person was kind and gave me a quote of $350. They told me there was a $50 dollar fee to find the lid. When the technician came out he quickly found the lid and told me that with the digging which was 18 inches and removing the sludge from the top of the tank it would be $850. They had never seen my tank or if there was sludge. I told them it was unfair not to tell me about those charges up front but they refused to do it for the agreed upon price. I would have gladly paid extra for the digging but they insisted on me paying a $99.00 service charge. Very dishonest. They may do good work but you will pay an arm and a leg. I called their competitor Rose septic and they have no hidden fees. The digging will be $100.00 and the pumping will be $375. Thank you Rose.”
